Hi! I’m Julie.

I am a biologist and analyst who loves to use data to answer questions and solve real-world problems. Currently serving as an Acting Data Analyst Lead at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, I specialize in transforming large and complex biological datasets into synthesis products that can provide insights for policymakers, industry members, and regulators.

I design and deploy analytical frameworks, define key performance metrics, develop automated reporting tools, and create intuitive data visualizations. My work increases the visibility and reuse of program data, and my data products allow program leadership to quickly assess the effectiveness of data collection efforts, to answer questions related to programmatic priorities, and to better communicate program impact.

I also collaborate with regulators and industry partners to streamline the shellfish farm permitting process. By developing data tools that leverage robust, up-to-date information, regulatory and industry stakeholders are able to make better decisions, faster.

I’m passionate about the power of a thoughtful data visualization to uncover insights and impact decisions. Using a broad toolkit - including dashboards, animations, infographics, and all variety of static figures - I make data more understandable, usable, and useful.
